Medium to large berries have a bright red color, glossy finish, firm texture, and fantastic flavor, holding their color well after harvest. Vigorous, upright canes grow 3–9 feet tall and benefit from trellising for support and easier picking. Plants can produce fruit their first year, with the main crop typically ripening in August and September. Kokanee also offers good overall disease resistance and improved tolerance to Phytophthora root rot compared to many commercial varieties.
